Project Description:

This project was created as part of a group effort for "Information and Communication Technology" taught in the Fall of 2014. Each group was required to evaluate a local library system's technology issues and form a solution together. Our group decided to focus on the Memphis Library who indicated that their issue was a lack of effective staff communication. Their previous attempts to solve this issue using technology had failed. They wanted a variety of communication methods all in one place. We decided to create a model for a staff-only intranet site that utilized a wide range of free Web 2.0 tools. Staff members were polled to determine which types of communication methods they felt were most useful/needed (real-time chat, blogs, employee forums, etc.) The resulting site was created using a WYSIWYG editor via Weebly (not coded from scratch as the Salina City project was) and added different tools into the site using plug-ins to create a one-stop communication hub. These tools included TeamUp, Talki, Hipchat, and DooWiki.
