Project Description:

The Salina City Library website project was created for a course entitled "Web Development for the Information Professions" in the Spring semester of 2015. Students were asked to locate a library website in their state that was in desperate need of re-designing to improve functionality and overall appearance. I chose Salina City because all of their information was crammed on to a single page and was difficult to navigate. I began the project by creating documentation that evaluated the current site and suggested design changes. I used Balsamiq to create a wireframe mock-up of the planned end result of the new website. From there, I incorporated HTML elements and styled each page using CSS. I also added scripts using jQuery and JavaScript to add interactive elements, including a scrolling slideshow, collapsable forms, and a responsive sidebar that would show the user the correct day and corresponding events/library hours for that day.
